One of my favorite self care rituals is dry brushing. If you’re not familiar with dry brushing, it involves using a natural, stiff bristle brush to exfoliate the skin.
To begin dry brushing, it’s often recommended to start at the feet and work towards the heart - using long, smooth strokes. It’s best to do this practice (which only takes a few minutes) before showering.
You may be wondering, “What are the benefits of dry brushing”? One of the most obvious benefits is smoother, softer skin. An additional benefit is that dry brushing also increases overall blood circulation, which in turn helps support the lymphatic system.
If you’re not familiar with the lymphatic system, it functions as a type of “garbage collector” in the body, and its job is to move lymph (or essentially waste products) from our bloodstream. Dry brushing helps give the body a little assistance in this area!
On a personal note, I can tell that my overall body feels better after doing dry brushing a few times a week. Here’s to dry brushing!
