Self Care

Are you having one of "those" weeks?

The type of week where you’ve put in more hours at work than you care to admit, you're homeschooling your child, AND you're are having an autoimmune flair? You get the idea!

When you’re having one of “those” weeks - it can be really challenging to still eat healthy and give your Gut the Love that it deserves.
Don’t worry, you can still support your body when things are hectic!
We have some tips to help you navigate those weeks like a pro!  As you know, at Live Bravely, we’re all about self-compassion, and that definitely applies here.  Remember, you’re doing the best that you can to navigate these types of weeks - cut yourself some slack!

Here are some of our favorite tips for surviving “Good Enough” Weeks:

Your pantry is your friend!  Pair an apple with nut butter or a handful of nuts for a quick snack.  Also, keep a few nut butter packets on hand and throw them in your bag with an apple.

Take advantage of the pre-chopped and pre-cooked options at the grocery store.  Yes, it costs a bit more, but it’s still less expensive (and healthier) than take out.  Grab some pre-chopped fruit and vegetables or a few Basic Garden Salads and a Rotisserie Chicken - voila! Dinner is done! If you have leftovers from the Rotisserie Chicken, freeze them for another meal!

Guacamole, vegetable chips, and a piece of fruit - for a quick snack or meal on the go.  Once a week, dice one medium red onion, a few cloves of garlic, and store it in your fridge to have on hand.  During the week, use a few TBSPs of the onion and garlic mixture to add to soups, as a garnish on roasted vegetables, or add extra flavor to roasted chicken.
You can also use the onion and garlic mixture to make a quick guacamole: combine 2 ripe avocados, juice of ½ lime, 3 - 4     TBSPs onion/garlic mixture, and a dash of salt.  Enjoy with Terra Vegetable Chips or with some pre-chopped veggies!

Bulk cooking is Best! When we cook, we cook in bulk.  We typically cook two meals during the week (usually on Sunday and Monday) and the rest of the week we eat leftovers - or grab a quick salad at a healthy fast casual spot.  If you’re not as enthused about eating leftovers all week, you can also freeze extra portions and pull out something from the freezer for some variety.  It’s so comforting to open up the freezer and see delicious soups, turkey burgers, roasted chicken and vegetables ready to go!

During “Good Enough” weeks, now is not the time to attempt to make an elaborate four course meal after a long day.

Navigate the week with self compassion and as much normalcy as you can muster.  If in doubt, throw some healthy snacks in your bag to keep you on track if unexpected things come up.
You’ve got this!
