Repressed emotions and the link with Autoimmune

Oh, repressed emotions…

Initially, things are “easier” (less drama!) when you DON’T speak your truth and "go along” with the status quo - “Sure, I’d LOVE to host!”

Until of course, it starts to affect your health…

I wasn’t aware of exactly HOW MUCH I was repressing my emotions, until I started to notice that the frequent queasy feeling in my stomach was actually my body “disagreeing” with my actions.  My body was acting like a judge in a courtroom drama, “Overruled!”

As I've learned, having a frequent DISCONNECT between our thoughts and actions is NOT good for overall health. Chronic stress = chronic health problems.

The interesting thing was once I started ACTUALLY listening to my body (and inner child), and the messages that they were trying to convey, I started to heal. I had FINALLY gotten the memo!

If you also struggle with repressed emotions (and speaking your truth), here are some tips:

  1. Name it, don’t shame it.  There are NO “bad” emotions - you feel how you feel.
  2. Start journaling. Let it out!
  3. Say bye-bye to guilt. Your feelings are valid.
  4. If you’re feeling stuck, working with a well-qualified therapist can be really beneficial.

Sending you love and support on your healing journey,
Elisha
